La Otra Banda-Punta Cana, DR – President Luis Abinader affirmed this Monday during his regular press conference with La Semanal that Land Use Law 368-22 is in force and applicable, even without regulations, thus supporting the position of the mayor of La Otra Banda, Alexander “El Hijo del Pueblo.”
The president emphasized that numerous laws are being applied in the country without regulations, clarifying that the latter is intended to strengthen the implementation of the law, but is not an essential requirement for its execution.
“There are hundreds of laws being applied without regulations. The regulations are intended to strengthen their application, but they are not necessary,” Abinader said, referring to the regulations governing land use in the Dominican Republic.
The head of state also denied that land use provisions are being violated in the municipal district of Verón-Punta Cana, where multiple hotel projects have been built under the existing regulations. “I don't think the regulations have stopped anything. We've had to create a number of regulations here, because 80% of the laws passed didn't have regulations,” he explained.
For his part, the legal advisor to the Executive Branch, Antoliano Peralta, reaffirmed that the lack of regulations does not impede the law's implementation. “This is not an old law, and the style of the consultancy and the government is for the regulations to be agreed upon by all interested parties,” he indicated.
With these statements, President Abinader reaffirms his commitment to the orderly development of communities and supports municipal efforts seeking to implement the Territorial Planning Law for the benefit of their districts. SOURCE: EL CARIBE
